Belgian Strong Dark Ale - (ale) An amped up version of the Belgian Dark Ale. The alcohol character can be very high and dangerous. Very complex. Most have low levels of hop character and low hop bitterness. Dark malts dominate with a sweet finish. Most are spicy and alcoholic. Examples: Chimay Blue, Unibroue Maudite.
